Meditation

Meditation & Practice

Simple practices for stillness, attention, reflection, devotion, and compassion.

Meditation can be approached as quiet attention, contemplation, prayerful devotion, loving-kindness, or mindful observation.

Begin Simply

  • Sit comfortably and allow the body to become still.
  • Bring gentle attention to the breath.
  • Notice thoughts without needing to follow every thought.
  • Return to awareness with patience.

Contemplative Reading

Read a short passage from the Bhagavad Gita or a Buddhist teaching slowly, then spend several minutes reflecting on how it applies to your life.

Loving-Kindness

Offer wishes of well-being to yourself, loved ones, strangers, difficult people, and all living beings.
